I'm Konstantinos Patronas — an Application Support Engineer at IGT in Athens. I work on a system spanning two data centers: bare metal and VMs, mostly Linux, with Python and Bash for tooling and health metrics, and Grafana for anything that needs a graph.

I've been doing this for about 20 years, and it's been a fairly winding road:

• Started in 2007 wiring up 8051 microcontrollers and PCBs during an internship at AMCO.
• Cut my teeth in ISP support at Forthnet — customer service first, then 2nd-level DSL/DSLAM troubleshooting.
• Moved to InternetQ, first on the service desk, then as a Perl developer writing Nagios plugins and internal REST APIs.
• Spent a year on application monitoring and Jira Service Desk administration at Research Now.
• Worked as an R&D Software Engineer on the Nokia LTE Core team.
• Did technical support at Public / Retail World SA.
• Led DevOps at the National Observatory of Athens.
• Landed in operational, hands-on Linux work at IGT, where I've stayed since 2020.

This blog is where I dump the one-liners, SSH tricks, Docker gotchas, and Bash/Python snippets I've collected along the way. If you've ever lost an afternoon to a misconfigured ~/.ssh/config, you're the target audience.

Posts are short, command-first, and almost always solve a specific annoyance. No newsletters, no upsells, no algorithm.
