Every day we deal with tasks, from simple to very complex tasks. To determine which tasks will be executed and in what order can be stressful, we can use the Eisenhower diagram to reduce the stress of task execution.
Urgent and important
We tend to focus on tasks labeled “Urgent and Important,” but what about the urgent but unimportant tasks or those that are important but not urgent. If those tasks let uncompleted, someday the non-urgent and important will become urgent and important. The urgent but not important will become a pile of non-important tasks with unhappy customers or bosses waiting for those tasks to complete.
The Eisenhower diagram
Eisenhower was a U.S president famous for prioritizing tasks; the Eisenhower diagram will help you discern the urgent tasks from the important ones.

We can place the tasks in the execution queue based on the urgency and the importance of the tasks
- important and urgent: First in the execution queue
- important but not urgent: Schedule the task after the last urgent and important task
- not important, not urgent: last in the queue
- not important but urgent: between important and not urgent and not urgent, not important
